Tina Turner turns 73 today
An American singer whose career has spanned more than half a century, earning her recognition and numerous awards. Turner started out her music career in the early 60s with husband Ike Turner as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. Success followed with a string of notable hits including "River Deep – Mountain High" and "Proud Mary".

In Memoriam:
Dave Cockrum died 6 years ago today
An American comic book artist known for his co-creation of the new X-Men characters Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus. Cockrum was also a prolific and inventive costume designer, who updated the uniforms of the Legion of Super-Heroes, and did the same for the new X-Men and many of their antagonists, in the 1970s and early 1980s.
