Alice Cooper turns 65 today
An American rock singer, songwriter, and musician whose career spans more than four decades. With a stage show that features guillotines, electric chairs, fake blood, boa constrictors, and baby dolls, Cooper has drawn equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock to pioneer a grandly theatrical and violent brand of heavy metal designed to shock.

In Memoriam:
Meena Keshwar Kamal died 26 years ago
An Afghan revolutionary political activist, feminist, women's rights activist and founder of Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA). In 1977, when she was a student at Kabul University, she founded RAWA, to promote equality and education for women and continues to "give voice to the deprived and silenced women of Afghanistan".
