Malcolm McDowell turns 69 today
An English actor, whose career spans more than four decades. McDowell is known for his early roles in the controversial films If...., O Lucky Man!, A Clockwork Orange, and Caligula. Since then, his versatility as an actor has led to varied roles in films and television series, including Star Trek Generations, Entourage, Heroes, Metalocalypse, the animated movie Bolt, the 2007 remake of Halloween, and Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness.

Benny Goodman died 26 years ago today
An American jazz and swing musician, clarinetist and bandleader; widely known as the "King of Swing". In the mid-1930s, Benny Goodman led one of the most popular musical groups in America. His January 16, 1938 concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City is described by critic Bruce Eder as "the single most important jazz or popular music concert in history: jazz's 'coming out' party to the world of 'respectable' music."
