Meryl Streep turns 63 today
An American actress who has worked in theatre, television, and film. She is widely regarded as one of the most talented actors of all time. Streep made her professional stage debut in The Playboy of Seville, before her screen debut in the television movie Deadliest Season. In that same year, she made her film debut with Julia. Both critical and commercial success came quickly with roles in The Deer Hunter and Kramer vs. Kramer, the former giving Streep her first Academy Award nomination and the latter her first win.

George Carlin died 4 years ago today
An American stand-up comedian, social critic, satirist, actor and writer/author, who won five Grammy Awards for his comedy albums. Carlin was noted for his black humor as well as his thoughts on politics, the English language, psychology, religion, and various taboo subjects. Carlin and his "Seven Dirty Words" comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5–4 decision by the justices affirmed the government's power to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves.
