Born On This Day:
John Cleese turns 73 today
An English actor, comedian and writer. He achieved success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and as a scriptwriter and performer on The Frost Report. In the 1960s he became a member of Monty Python, the comedy troupe responsible for the sketch show Monty Python's Flying Circus and the four films: And Now for Something Completely Different, The Holy Grail, Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life.

In Memoriam:
Rod Roddy died 9 years ago today
An American radio and television announcer. He is primarily known for his role as an offstage announcer on game shows. Among the shows that he announced are the CBS game shows Whew!, Press Your Luck and The Price Is Right. On the latter two, Roddy appeared on camera on many episodes. Roddy succeeded original announcer Johnny Olson on Price and held the role from 1985 until his death in 2003.
