Sting turns 61 today
An English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, actor and philanthropist. Prior to starting his solo career, he was the principal songwriter, lead singer and bassist for the rock band The Police. Sting has varied his musical style throughout his career, incorporating distinct elements of jazz, reggae, classical, New Age, and worldbeat into his music. Sting has received sixteen Grammy Awards for his work.

In Memoriam:
Henry Ringling North died 29 years ago
Vice president, treasurer, director and operations chief, while his brother, John Ringling North, was the president and chairman of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. He always planned to join the family circus: "I never had another thought, and neither did my brother," he told The New York Post in an interview in 1965. "Once I tried juggling torches, fortunately with gloves on," he said. "I caught the wrong end every time."
